Summer break is coming to an end for more than 247,000 students and 14,000 teachers in Broward County Public Schools (BCPS), as they return to the classroom on Monday, August 11, 2025, for the start of the 2025/26 school year. This year marks the start of the educational journey for the Class of 2038 who are the incoming kindergarteners.

To celebrate the first day of school, BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn will visit several schools throughout the day, greeting students, families, teachers and staff. His visits will spotlight the District’s unwavering commitment to student success, academic excellence and strong school communities.

"We are incredibly excited to welcome our students back for what promises to be an outstanding academic year," said Superintendent Dr. Hepburn. "Our dedicated teachers and staff have been working tirelessly to prepare engaging classes and enriching programs that will empower all students to reach their full potential. I am looking forward to visiting our schools on the first day and sharing in the energy and enthusiasm of a new year of learning.”

The Superintendent will begin the day helping students power up with breakfast in Coconut Creek, greeting learners at schools, touring classrooms and meeting with school administrators, teachers and support staff.
